Voice and Chamber Ensemble Performance: October 9th in Dayton OH

On October 9th at the Roger Glass Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Dayton there will be a performance of music for voice and chamber ensemble. Soprano Andrea Chenoweth will premiere two new works by Joseph Summer: The Cupid Sonnets and My Love Well Knows Her Pretty Looks. The former is a setting of Shakespeare’s 153rd and 154th sonnets, scored for a “Pierrot Lunaire” ensemble of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion, and piano. The latter is a setting of Shakespeare’s 139th, 140th, and 141st sonnets scored for female voice and horn. Along with the premieres, Ms Chenoweth will also perform Summer’s setting of “Gallop apace you fiery steeds,” a soliloquy from “Romeo and Juliet,” scored for soprano, horn, and piano. All of these works will be recorded, for release in 2025.
